Spring Challenge - Love and Life

Before I begin, I just want to say hi to all my new followers! Thanks so much for reading!

Today begins the spring challenge hosted and created by the lovely Mateja at Purple Glitters. For all the rules and info, you can go to the great write-up she did right here. The basic idea is five different manis following the themes while using four different color combinations (without repeating except for rainbow day). Today is a day of many firsts for me, not only is it my very first challenge but it is also the first day I'll be using my brand new stamper! Yes, I am already in love with it and cannot wait to get my hands on all kinds of plates.

Today's theme is love and life. For my color combination I chose pink and green and I actually redid these nails twice. I tried to get the general idea across with freehand brush work but none of my paintbrushes were quite up to the task of acting as a real nail art brush. So I happily switched to the shiny new stamper! My overall concept is spring life, growing as grass/plants and hearts (love) growing with it. Take a look! (Please pardon my super dry skin, I was previously wearing a super thick glitter and we all know what taking that off is like >.<)

Polishes used:
  • Sinful Colors base coat / Seche Vite top coat
  • Sally Hansen I Pink I Can
  • OPI Skinny Dip'n in Lake Michg'n
  • Sally Hansen Emerald City
  • Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet
  • Pure Ice Siren
  • I originally tried the hearts with Sinful Colors Hazard but it just wasn't dark enough, you can still see some traces of it though when I re-stamped with the red.

Color Combinations
Pink and Green
Blue and Purple
Yellow and Green
Orange and Pink

Check out what all the other wonderful ladies on this challenge did!

Overall it wasn't quite what I imagined but I can definitely tell I will be having a lot of fun with this challenge and the stamper. For all of you out there with stampers how was your first attempt at using it?

    1. Thanks! The base color is actually I Pink I Can with the OPI sheer pink on top of it, otherwise it was REALLY bright.

  3. It look amazing =). Great job! I really can't wait to use pink and green together =).

My first stamping attempts were horrible! It took me at least 10 stamping manicures to publish my all over stamping, because these were the most problematic for me =). I think your's looks great =)

  4. Which stamping plate did you use? I was going to do a stamping mani with a full nail stamp, but it was so awful, because I am so out of practice. I love the colors you used though!

    1. I have the cheapo as seen on tv brand stamper that comes with 5 plates, I used plate SE21 for the grass and plate SE18 for the hearts. I dunno if they correspond to anything since it's not a name brand Konad or Bundle Monster plate.

  5. I love this combination. Turned out awesome. I love to stamp but I have to be emotionally prepared because I hate to screw up and I am sort of a perfectionist Not a good combo for stamping.

    1. Haha I hear you, I am the same way and it was like a huge production at the kitchen table trying it for the first time. I think once I get the hang of it the whole process will be a lot easier though.

  8. Very lovely mani! I've had a lot of fun (and frustration) learning to use my stamper. I still have a long way to go but it's getting better!

Now missy, we might have a problem. Your header...it's too awesome. I literally had to grab my boyfriend and show him because he knows how much I love a good t-rex!!

Look forward to seeing what else you come up with for the challenge!

    1. Dino love!! I totally made myself giggle while I was making it, I'm glad it makes others just as happy! It is so ridiculously fun to paint a t-rex's nails in photoshop, I highly recommend it as stress therapy.

  10. Very nice manicure. My stamping attempts were bad, but then I got Konad stamper and it went better. I still don't publish a lot of stamping manicures, because I'm rarely satisfied with them. I prefer free-hand nail art.

    1. Thanks! I love free-hand nail art as well but I am lacking the right brushes to make it look decent at the moment. So far I am liking the stamping but we'll see when I try a full nail one haha
