Neon Crackle Madness

Happy Friday everybody! I am feeling better today and I bring you many pictures, both of the nail and canine variety. Let's get started, shall we?

Today's mani was a result of my refusal to give up on crackle polishes. Some of you may recall that a certain gold crackle polish made my first crackle encounter not so spectacular. But I knew deep down in my little polish-filled heart that it couldn't be the end. There had to be more! I'd seen pics of people with crackles that worked so I knew it was possible. Was I too stupid to use one? Entirely possible but not likely. So in the spirit of denial I blamed the polish and went out and bought another. The end result? Success! I knew it!

Polishes used:
  • Sally Hansen Salon Manicure base coat / Seche Vite top coat
  • China Glaze Celtic Sun
  • Wet n' Wild Sunny Side Up
  • Maybelline Color Show Shredded Carbon Frost

I know the neon gradient isn't anything new but I just wanted something bright to show off the black crackle. So far I have two of these Maybelline Color Show polishes and I love them. This one, Carbon Frost, was so easy to work with. With my Sally Hansen crackle I had to fuss over just the right thickness and just the right brush stroke and even then I felt like it was a 50/50 shot at it working. With this one it didn't matter. As you can see on my ring finger I did a thinner coat for smaller cracks just to test and it still cracked well enough to see the gradient underneath. I'm not sure if it's a difference between brands or the fact that this is a solid creme where the Sally Hansen was a shimmery kind of foil thing, but I love this crackle. If I had encountered this one before the other I would certainly own a lot more of these types. I think I've learned my sparkly lesson, cremes for me when it comes to crackles. Do you guys have any crackle preferences?

I didn't forget I promised you all puppies, but in the interest of saving space I made a jump cut.
Follow this jump for puppies!

Did you jump? Good, because there is cuteness to see! These are some of my favorite pics of my two crazy dogs who love to keep me company and annoy the cat.

This is the boss of the house, Scully the pomeranian. She loves snow and poking people in the back of the leg with her nose.

Mid-fetch action shot!
This is the big baby Rin the sheltie/spaniel mix. She likes belly rubs, more belly rubs, and wrestling with the cat.

As an added bonus I would like to present to you all one of Rin's chew toys which I swear to this day she made look like an octorok from Legend of Zelda. I know you all see it!
Slobbered octorok. It wants to spit rocks at you.
I have now fulfilled my urge to be all "OMG YOU GUYS LOOK AT MY PETS!" and so I hope you all have a great weekend, thanks for reading!

  1. Cute nails, and cute, cute dogs - all though they annoy your cat, she needs to lift her paw and make them respect cats ;) One of my cats can giveher some free advice on that matter LOL

    1. Thanks! Don't worry about the kitty, he's very good at letting them know when enough is enough. Usually he is the one who starts it anyhow, he likes to ambush them >.<

  3. Nails = good. Like 'em.

Unfortunately my attention has drifted over to your puppiiieeesss! <3 Pomeranians and the sheltie mix is too precious as well. My baby is a golden retriever. And now I shall look for a picture to add it to my next blog post. It's entirely your fault

Btw, do you have twitter? Sometimes I want to tweet nonsense at a specific person and I think you'd fit the bill.

  7. OMGPUPPIES!! Ahem. Sorry. Waylaid by the cuteness. ;o)

I haven't had much luck with crackle polishes--they just don't seem to want to crack for me. But I really like the way you did this! The neon gradient and the black crackle really accentuate each other and totally pop!

    1. Haha they're good at distracting people with their adorableness ^_^

Thanks! I think the key for me was getting the right brand that worked for me and not going all sparkly.
