In case you missed yesterday's post and you're all like "wtf is this banner?" allow me to explain. The Gradient Challenge was made by Esme of Nail Addict who was kind enough to invite me along for the ride! (By this I mean she asked me about doing a summer challenge and then did all the work, I am lame and she is awesome.) Now that you're caught up, welcome to Yellow Monday! Ready to see mah digits? I kind of can't believe I just typed that sentence but I'm too lazy to backspace so it's out there. Look at these pretty pictures to distract you from what just happened there.
Polishes used:
- Seche Rebuild base coat / Seche Vite top coat
- Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow
- Sinful Colors Amethyst
- Nicole by OPI Let's Get Star-ted
This mani is pretty much what I had in mind when I star-ted (Get it? Like the polish name? I made myself laugh, that's what counts). I did however go through a few color combinations before I settled on purple with my yellow. Originally I had about four different yellows and a few different golds but the gradient was just too subtle for my taste. I had no idea I had so many of the same tone yellows! Then I moved to red but it looked either like too much orange or a weird ketchup and mustard thing and that went out the window. Then I spotted Let's Get Star-ted and knew what I had to do. After my gradients were done I did a coat of Let's Get Star-ted for the sparkle and then fished out a star glitter for each nail. I have to say, aside from my crappy cleanup job I really love how these ended up. How do you guys feel about shaped glitters?
I am having a lot of fun with this challenge already, thanks so much to Esme for all the planning! I know you're all curious, go see what she came up with for day two of the summer gradient challenge!
Thanks for stopping by, see you all tomorrow for some fun with blue ^_^
LOVE star glitters! The only time I hate them is when I'm trying to get one to lay flat on my tiny, super-curved pinky nail (but considering small decals are even a problem there... it's my nails).
ReplyDeleteThese were actually the first shaped glitters I've used and I was expecting it to be much worse. Sinful Colors Green Ocean sticks out waaay more than these little stars.
Deleteooo i love the contrast between the yellow and purple. & i like how the gradient are all a different direction. GORGEOUS! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I wanted to do an orange-y one like yours but I kept messing it up haha.
DeleteLooooveee these! I like the multi-directional gradients too.
ReplyDeleteI hate shaped glitter, I can never get them out of the bottle and then they stick up and taunt me with their non flatness.
And because I'm too lazy to go back, I loved the black and white with the stamping too! You made the hearts stamp work, which I have not.
Lovin' the challenge ladies!
Yeah I definitely had to shake the bottle and fish around for those suckers but then again the bottle was hiding on a clearance shelf for a dollar so I'm not gonna complain.
DeleteI share your laziness, both of those plates were a pain in the butt and took a lot of finessing with the scraper.
beautiful!! my likey a lot!
ReplyDeleteI had a feeling you would like the purple hehe
DeleteLove the purple stars across from the purple gradient--very cool combo!
ReplyDeleteVery cool and different, I like!
ReplyDeleteI've nominated you for the Liebster Award on my blog, check it out and participate here --> http://prettypolishplease.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/blog-award-liebster-award.html
This is cool! I love how the gradient varies from nail to nail. And as for shaped glitters, I usually like them! Then again, I pretty much like any glitter. :D
ReplyDeleteOh wuh! These are ahmahzing! So lovely!
